BIO

Melisa McGregor is a Canadian-born Composer, Actor, Director and Producer, as well as a Sundance Lab Composer Fellow and proud Member of Labyrinth Theater Company (NYC), who currently serves on the Leadership Team for the company. 

While living in Los Angeles, Melisa has worked with the composer Danny Elfman for 13 years, producing film scores from Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland (2010) to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) and White Noise (2022). Melisa is also one of the producers of the live shows with full orchestra for: Danny Elfman's Music From the Films of Tim BurtonTim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas Live to Film Concert ExperienceDanny Elfman: From Boingo to Batman to Big Mess and Beyond! (Coachella 2022, Hollywood Bowl 2022, San Diego/Irvine 2023). 

For the stage, Melisa composed and performed the original score for Maggie Bofill’s play Devil of Choice, produced by Labyrinth Theater Company, which premiered in May 2018 at the Cherry Lane Theater (NYC) that was also remounted and performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019.

Melisa is currently co-creating and collaborating on an original musical with Victor Almanzar called Next Stop Broadway, which has had two workshop readings with Labyrinth Theater Co. in New York City in 2022 and 2023.

For Film, Melisa composed the score for the feature documentary Made In Boise, directed by Beth Aala, Look At Me: XXX Tentacion, directed by Sabaah Folayan, Allswell, directed by Ben Snyder, and most recently Secret Society 3 for Miasha Productions, streaming on Amazon in January. Melisa's current project is scoring a docu-series about the director Tim Burton, directed by Tara Wood. 

Melisa has also made several short films in NYC, Croatia and LA, some of which have played at various festivals, including Gajeta, Fast Forward. Get Me, Get You, and Envy and Denial, are student films in collaboration with Bank Street After School programs in Harlem (NYC), and recently Melisa has collaborated on music videos and short documentaries for Danny Elfman.

Melisa has a BFA in theater, with a concentration in Acting and Directing, from Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada, she studied with Maggie Flanigan (Meisner Technique) in NYC for two years.
